GATESVILLE, Texas (FOX 44) – According to the Facebook page of Constable Ryan Gable of Montgomery County Precinct 3, detectives with the Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Unit began investigating 49-year-old Jon Paul Sheptock of Conroe in August 2025 after receiving information that he possessed and was producing child sexual assault materials involving a minor. Detectives developed probable cause to charge Sheptock with Promotion of Child Pornography, a third-degree felony.
On September 26, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Sheptock’s residence, but he was not there. Investigators located him in Gatesville with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was discovered inside the Dr. Lane Murray Unit prison, where he had been serving in a ministry role to inmates. He was taken into custody by DPS.
During interviews and digital forensic work, detectives learned that Sheptock had been employed as a Worship Minister at First Montgomery Baptist Church in Montgomery, Texas. He is currently being held in Coryell County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Montgomery County.
Because Sheptock held a position of trust in his church, Precinct 3 detectives are asking anyone who may have relevant information to call (281) 364-4211 and ask to speak to a detective.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
