Congress can’t get anything done. Not even stuff 70% to 80% of Americans support. We’ve seen politicians torpedo a good idea rather than risk the other side receiving credit for it. We’ve witnessed them being more concerned about winning primaries in safe districts than addressing constituents’ needs.
They despise colleagues who were once semi-affectionately known as the “loyal opposition.” They don’t genuinely converse with the media or their constituents. Regardless of the question, their response is whatever is fed to them by focus group consultants — ad nauseum. One of them recently told KGET-TV 17 he doesn’t answer questions; he issues press releases.
