Kelowna families are invited for a day of fun with EcoCooks on Oct. 4.
To raise money for the organization, a drop-in Community Games Day will take place at Waterfront Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Kids who take the EcoCooks program learn how to cook, where their food comes from, how it affects the climate — and how to make choices that help their families and their community,” said Pamela Murkin, Executive Director. “Community Games Day is an invitation to Kelowna to celebrate tasty, planet-friendly food while helping us fund barrier-free programs so every child who wants to learn can join.”
Festivities include live music, a mini market, fun challenges, and an obstacle course.
Those interested are asked to register online for free and raise funds. Every $25 raised earns prize entries for things like wine tours, LEGO kits, gift cards and more. A $10 drop-in fee will apply to anyone not registered in advance.
EcoCooks combines hands-on cooking with climate education for kids. Since launching, EcoCooks has delivered more than 1,600 workshops, empowered over 9,000 youth learners, and estimates it has saved 55,628 kg CO₂e through planet-positive food workshops.
