Toronto-Danforth Councillor Paula Fletcher will host a Community Environment Day on Sunday, Sept. 7.
It will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Bridgepoint and Blue Rodeo drive (by Bridgepoint Hospital) in the Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street East area), rain or shine.
Those attending can get free loose compost and paper shredding (limit of two bags) done while dropping off unwanted items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal. Those who wish to collect compost are reminded to bring a shovel and container as it will not be bagged.
Vehicles entering the Community Environment Day on Sept. 7 must enter via Bridgepoint Drive from Broadview Avenue.
Items that can be dropped off for recycling, donation or proper disposal at a Community Environment Day include electronic waste, household hazardous waste, and items to be donated for reuse. Those attending this Sunday are also encouraged to drop off non-perishable food donations for those in need.
Sunday’s event will also be an opportunity to learn about the city’s sustainability and climate initiatives, and to hear from local community groups about environmental issues impacting the East Toronto area.
