Officials with Butte-Silver Bow and the Butte Center for Performing Arts are seeking public comment to develop future renovation plans to ensure that the Mother Lode remains a centerpiece for Uptown Butte’s cultural life.
The groups are part of an initiative to market analysis of the historic Mother Lode Theatre, 316 W. Park St. It builds on the initial condition assessment work completed in 2023 to identify renovation needs, which is now being updated and completed by SMA Design.
“This effort arrives at a pivotal moment — the building has celebrated its 100th anniversary, and it has been 35 years since the theatre’s last major rehabilitation,” an official with the Butte Center for the Performing Arts said.
The public feedback will not only shape Mother Lode’s future, but also how to pursue improvements in realistic, achievable steps, officials said.
“Gathering insights into audience preferences, interests, and experiences will help guide programming decisions, enhance audience engagement, and chart a path toward preserving the theatre’s legacy for generations to come,” said a project leader. “We want the voices of longtime patrons and newcomers alike as we explore funding strategies and actionable plans to maintain and enhance this historic theatre.”
