Colombia will launch regulated keno in January, with gambling regulator Coljuegos expecting the game to contribute over COP485bn (£93.4m) to the state over the next five years.
Keno will operate across four regions of Colombia covering all 32 departments throughout the country.
Four operators have been chosen to manage the game, and they will be able to issue tickets using blockchain technology.
The first region, covering areas such as Arauca, Casanare and Cauca, will be operated by Operador Regional de Keno.
The other operators are Costa Operador Keno, Keno Región and Blinkazar.
Coljuegos said there will be over 16,000 terminals operating keno across Colombia once the game is up and running, with the operators now undergoing a four-month pre-operational period to complete preparations ahead of the January launch.
The regulator added, citing market studies, that keno sales are expected to top COP2.3tn (£442.7m).
“In total, we expect to have more than 16,000 sales terminals across the country. With this, we aim to expand betting options and consolidate the games of chance and luck sector as a key pillar of the national economy,” said Coljuegos president Marco Emilio Hincapié.
