
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.–The Westminster College women’s soccer team secured a 2-1 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Bethany Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex.
Westminster’s record improved to 3-9-4 overall and 3-5-2 in the league. Bethany fell to 1-14 overall and 0-10 in the PAC.
Prior to the match, Westminster recognized its 11 seniors: Kim Cora, Natalie Doty, Ashley Horvath, Taylor Jones, Amanda Lewis (Slippery Rock High), Chloe Lindquist, Emma Maloberti, Morgan Murphy, Alena Taladay, Mairin Turek (Clinton, Pa., South Side) and Mackenzie Wagner.
Scoreless at the half, Bethany’s Shunnye Christopher scored the matches’ opening goal in the 60th minute.
Horvath tied the game off a cross from freshman Hailey McQueen in the 64th minute. Junior Giulianna Russell scored the game-winner in the 79th minute, heading in a Lewis corner kick.
Murphy played all 90 minutes and finished with five saves.
Westminster edged Bethany in shots, 16-15, and finished with a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. Westminster attempted six corner kicks to Bethany’s two.
Westminster concludes its regular season Wednesday at Washington & Jefferson (6-9-2, 3-5-2). The match is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. inside Alexandre Stadium.
MEN’S SOCCER
NEW WILMINGTON – The Westminster College men’s soccer team suffered a 2-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to Bethany Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex.
Westminster’s record fell to 1-12-4 overall and 1-6-3 in the PAC. Bethany improved to 4-9-3 overall and 3-6-1 in the league.
Before the start of the match, Westminster recognized its six senior players: Ethan Croushore, Tyler Davis, Andrew Dittemer, Kaleb Kuhn (Slippery Rock High), Conner Roberts and Noah Wolford were recognized.
Bethany netted its two goals in the opening half. Santiago Waites scored in the 20th minute and Samuel Bedoya scored in the 37th minute. Both were unassisted.
Dittemer and Wolford split time in goal for the Titans. Dittemer started the first 45 minutes and made a pair of saves. Wolford started the second half and made four saves.
Bethany edged Westminster in shots, 10-9, and finished with an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. The two sides attempted five corner kicks each.
Westminster concludes its regular season Wednesday at Washington & Jefferson (8-7-2, 4-5-1 PAC). The match is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. inside Alexandre Stadium.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
NEW WILMINGTON – Sophomore Morgan O’Brien recorded her second triple-double of the season Saturday, helping the Westminster College women’s volleyball team capture a five-set Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over visiting Franciscan at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
Saturday was Westminster’s seventh five-set match of the year. It was the program’s third win in five-setters. Franciscan won the opening set 25-21 and Westminster took the second 25-21. The Barons edged the Titans in the third, 27-25, before Westminster forced a fifth set with its 25-20 victory in the fourth. Locked up at 10-all in the deciding set, Westminster rattled off five-straight points to earn the win. The fifth featured a total of seven ties and four lead changes.
Westminster moved its overall record to 15-9 and improved to 7-5 in the league. The women’s volleyball program dedicated Saturday’s match to the life and legacy of Morgan Rodgers, a former Duke University lacrosse student-athlete who died tragically in July 2019 after battling mental health struggles. Morgan’s Message was created by her family and former teammates with the mission to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health, normalize the conversations about mental health and ensure that mental health is treated equally to physical health for all student-athletes. The Titans raised over $1,000 in support of the organization.
O’Brien finished with 12 kills, 22 assists and 13 digs. She added a pair of block assists. In a five-set home loss to Hiram on Sept. 24. O’Brien finished with 11 kills, 23 assists and 13 digs. She is the lone PAC player with a triple-double this year. Junior Liv Trent registered her fifth double-double of the season, totaling a season-high 17 kills and 16 digs. Seniors Rachel LaSalvia and Shelby Rambo each had 10 kills while senior Charlotte Burgan added eight kills and four total blocks.
Senior Angie Nardone dished out 23 assists while helping defensively with nine digs. Freshman Mackenzie Ging paced the defense with a career-best 28 digs. Freshman Kylie Anthony added 16 digs.
Logan Hickey led Franciscan (9-11, 5-7 PAC) with a 20-kill, 21-dig double-double.
Westminster returns to its PAC North slate Wednesday at Grove City (15-6, 7-5 PAC), winners of four-straight matches. Wednesday’s match is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. inside the Grove City College Area. The Titans scored a straight set win over the Wolverines in New Wilmington on Oct. 8.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women’s swimming and diving team combined to win eight individual events and a pair of relays Saturday in a 181-82 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet victory at Washington & Jefferson.
Freshmen Nina Nappo and Rachel Rospierski won two events each. Nappo won the 1000 with a time of 12 minutes, 10:55 seconds and the 400 IM with a time of 5:14.01. She was second in the 50 free (27.57). Rospierski won the 100 back with a time of 1:05.43 and the 50 free with a time of 27.03. She finished second in the 200 back (2:27.89).
Junior Maddy McClain won the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.48 and finished second in the 200 free (2:05.28) and 500 (5:34.09). Freshman Olivia Schrock won the 200 back (1:26.04), was second in the 100 back (1:10.79) and third in the 100 fly (1:15.91). Junior Annabelle Turner won the 200 fly (2:37.11) and finished second in the 100 free (1:06.71). Freshman Brianna Reinhart won the 100 free (1:00.40) and finished third in the 200 free (2:10.13).
Freshman Sarah Vitale was second in the 1000 (12:31.40) and 200 breast (3:08.72) and third in the 500 (6:13.97). Freshman Madison Alessio was second in the 100 breast (1:25.21) and third in the 50 free (28.29) and 200 breast (3:08.84). Sophomore Avery O’Sullivan had third-place finishes in the 100 back (1:13.93), 200 back (2:38.71) and 400 IM (5:41.51). Freshman Emma Greene posted third-place finishes in the 100 breast (1:28.03) and 100 free (1:07.97).
Westminster opened the dual meet with a win the 200 medley relay, registering a winning time of 2:06.66. Members of the ‘A’ relay were Rospierski, Reinhart, Turner and sophomore Daphne Gindlesperger. The Titans closed the meet with a win in the 400 free relay, finishing with a time of 4:08.23. The ‘A’ relay members included McClain, Gindlesperger, Nappo and Reinhart.
Westminster continues its PAC schedule next Saturday at Allegheny. Events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. inside the Mellon Pool.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Sophomore Jack Katigbak won three events for the Westminster College men’s swimming and diving team Saturday in a 159-94 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to Washington & Jefferson inside Henry Memorial Natatorium.
Westminster’s record fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the league. W&J improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.
Westminster opened with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 1 minute, 52.17 seconds. Members of the relay included freshman Ethan Bishop, graduate student Gino Piraino, junior Hayne Webster and freshman Joseph Galbraith.
Katigbak registered first-place finishes in the 100 back (55.41), 50 free (23.06) and 200 back (2:05.49). Sophomore Avery Bumbach won the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.03. He also finished second in the 100 breast (1:07.05) and third in the 50 free (23.58). Bishop won the 500 free (5:25.84) and finished second in the 1000 free (11:27.57) and 400 IM (5:03.48).
Sophomore Ethan Schohn finished second in the 200 free (1:56.16), 100 free (53.47) and 100 fly (58.71). Galbraith was third in the 100 free (53.76) while Webster was third in the 200 breast (2:50.98). Piraino finished second on the 1-meter board, totaling 193.88 points.
The Titans closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:31.85). Relay members were Katigbak, Schohn, Galbraith and Bumbach.
Westminster continues its PAC schedule next Saturday at Allegheny. Events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. inside the Mellon Pool.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
GROVE CITY – Junior midfielder Tori Stevenson scored two goals while five teammates joined her in the scoring column Saturday afternoon as the Grove City College women’s soccer team closed its regular season home schedule with a 7-0 Senior Day whitewash of Presidents’ Athletic Conference foe Washington & Jefferson at Don Lyle Field.
Senior defender Karly Keller, senior midfielder Hailey Muñoz and senior midfielder Anna Williams (Wilmington High) all scored, as did junior defender Meghan Tischler and freshman forward Lauren Muhanna.
Tischler opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 12:37 mark of the first half. Exactly three minutes later, Keller scored her first goal of 2025 after receiving an assist from Muhanna.
The lead swelled to 3-0 at 24:55 when Stevenson scored the first of her two goals. Senior midfielder Natalie Giunta assisted Stevenson’s score.
Williams pushed the lead to 4-0 with 19 seconds remaining in the first half. Williams scored her second goal of the season after receiving a feed from junior midfielder Kirstin Musser.
The Wolverines then sewed up the win with two more goals in the first six minutes of the second half. Stevenson scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season at 49:23, following an assist from freshman forward Emily Horst. Muhanna followed with an unassisted goal at 50:58.
Muñoz closed the scoring at 63:25 by recording her first goal of the season. Freshman midfielder Payton Allan provided the assist.
Grove City outshot the Presidents (6-9-2, 3-5-2) by a 30-20 margin. Grove City had 13 shots on goal while W&J had six shots on goal. Grove City also owned a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Maddie Mills made four saves to earn the victory. She played the first 50:58 in goal. Freshman Ella Lotz made two saves over the final 39:02 of the match.
Grove City has recorded eight consecutive shutouts. It is the Wolverines’ longest shutout streak since a nine-match shutout streak at the end of the 2018 season.
Stevenson has scored 13 goals in 10 conference matches. She ranks third in the conference in goals and points (30). Stevenson now has 32 career goals, which is tied for ninth in program history. Muhanna ranks second in the league with eight assists. That mark ranks ninth on Grove City’s single-season list.
Prior to the match, Grove City recognized the program’s 11 seniors: Giunta, Keller, Muñoz, Williams, defender Emilie Beers, forward Rian Garvey, midfielder Moriah Miller, defender Aubrey Shaw, forward Annie Vannoy, student assistant Audrey Downs and student assistant Sara Swoboda.
Grove City (10-4-2, 9-0-1) will close the regular season Wednesday at 6 p.m. with a conference match at Waynesburg University (14-1-2, 8-0-2). The winner will clinch the top seed in the upcoming six-team conference tournament. Grove City would also clinch the No. 1 seed with a draw Wednesday night.

GROVE CITY – The Grove City College men’s soccer team scored four goals in a 20-minute span of the second half Saturday afternoon to capture a 4-0 Senior Day win over visiting Washington & Jefferson in Presidents’ Athletic Conference competition at Don Lyle Field.
Grove City (12-2-2, 9-0-1) earned its seventh straight victory. The Wolverines are 11-0-1 in their last 12 outings.
Senior midfielder Aidan Eck broke the scoreless tie at 66:37 by scoring his fourth goal of 2025. Senior midfielder Camden Thomas assisted Eck’s game-winner.
Five minutes later, junior midfielder Colton Hudson doubled the lead with his first goal of the season. Junior defender Theo Campbell assisted Hudson’s goal at 71:26.
Freshman Cristian Garcia pushed the lead to 3-0 with an unassisted goal at 78:31. It is Garcia’s first collegiate goal. Classmate Judah Gray closed the scoring at 86:07 with his second goal of the season. Senior Owen Zimmerman assisted Gray’s goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Keller Krieger earned his 11th victory of the season by making one save. Krieger played the first 77:37 of the match. Junior Anthony D’Ippolito played the final 12:23. It is Grove City’s eighth shutout of the season.
The Wolverines outshot W&J, 20-25, including a 13-1 in shots on goal. Grove City had nine corner kicks and did not yield a corner kick to W&J.
Prior to the match, Grove City honored its eight-man senior class: Eck, Thomas, Zimmerman, forward Jayden Claycamp, midfielder Matt Herrmann, midfielder Matt Sampsell, midfielder Daniel Sharp and defender Cole Sonday.
Grove City will visit Waynesburg University in the regular season finale Wednesday at 8 p.m. The Wolverines have already clinched the top seed in the six-team conference tournament. Grove City will host a semifinal match Wednesday, Nov. 6.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
GROVE CITY – The Grove City College women’s volleyball team honored seniors Bella Costa, Lila Stonehouse and Brooklyn Wirebaugh prior to Saturday’s home tri-match with Chatham and Messiah in the Grove City College Arena.
The Wolverines’ junior class made sure that their fourth-year teammates enjoyed a successful Senior Day as Grove City earned a pair of victories. Grove City (15-6, 7-5) opened the day with a 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-19 Presidents’ Athletic Conference interdivisional win over South Division leader Chatham (14-6, 9-3). The Wolverines then swept Messiah in the nightcap, 25-9, 25-21, 25-15.
Junior Sarah Hart paced Grove City in the opener by recording 11 kills. Fellow juniors Alayna Dorst and Kendra Klusch both pounded out 10 kills while junior Lily Lagaras had eight kills.
Junior Sarah Harris helped direct the offense with 20 assists. Wirebaugh added 16 assists. Costa and Harris both served two aces.
Klusch, Stonehouse and sophomore Lilly Pool all recorded six total blocks. Lagaras added four blocks.
Sophomore libero Lilly Wojtala led the Wolverines with 16 digs. Wirebaugh chalked up a dozen digs while Dorst and Harris each contributed 10 digs. Costa had nine digs.
Hart tallied 15 kills on only 28 attacks in the victory over Messiah. Klusch tossed in six kills while Dorst and Lagaras each chipped in five kills. Harris set 15 assists.
Sophomore Brooke Manfull served a career-high five aces. Costa and Dorst both had two aces as Grove City finished with 11 aces, one shy of the team’s season high.
Pool posted five blocks and Klusch had four blocks. Dorst collected 10 digs.
Saturday’s nightcap marked the first meeting between Grove City and Messiah in 36 years.
Grove City returns to PAC North Division action Wednesday at 7 p.m. when the Wolverines host Westminster (7-5 PAC).
