Coinbase is stepping up its infrastructure game with a new wallet solution tailored for developers, offering automatic 4.1% rewards on idle USDC. Dubbed “CDP Embedded Wallets,” the toolset is designed to help builders launch Web3 apps with scalable, secure wallets in under 200 milliseconds — without compromising on user experience or control.
The embedded wallets are compatible with EVM-based chains and Solana, enabling login options familiar to Web2 users like email, SMS, and OAuth. Despite the simplicity, the wallets remain non-custodial, with keys protected inside trusted execution environments (TEEs). Developers can also enforce custom policies and access a unified API stack covering transfers, staking, and more.
Among the early use cases are remittance platforms, DeFi tools, B2B payroll systems, and crypto-native games. Coinbase says users will benefit not just from seamless onboarding, but also from fee-free USDC transfers on the Base network and built-in rewards from day one.
The release coincides with fresh momentum on U.S. stablecoin regulation. The recently passed GENIUS Act provides the first federal framework for dollar-pegged digital assets, giving developers greater confidence in building on stablecoin rails. Coinbase sees this as a key driver behind the adoption of CDP Embedded Wallets.
As an added incentive, Coinbase is waiving all fees for Onramp customers using the product during its beta phase through September 30.
