Opyn CEO Andrew Leon and Head of Research Joseph Clark will bring their specialized knowledge to Coinbase, particularly in areas like perpetual options—commonly known as “perps”—which are derivatives without an expiration date. The team also brings valuable experience with verified pools, which are whitelisted liquidity pools that have undergone compliance and KYC verification.
“The team brings a rare combination of deep onchain technical expertise, a strong grasp of traditional market structures, and hands-on experience building decentralized products from the ground up,” Coinbase noted in a blog post. “Their expertise will help accelerate our efforts to move more of our exchange operations onchain, including the development of onchain market infrastructure like Verified Pools.”
