The latest Cleveland Browns news and notes from around the NFL in the Sunday Dawg Chow.
It may be the weekend, but when you are Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry, this is not a time to be taking off.
The Browns closed out the early stages of the “120 days that are crucial to the organization” with the opening salvo of interviews for the vacant head coaching position. Cleveland so far has interviewed in-house candidates Tommy Rees and Jim Schwartz, and Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde, and Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher.
Berry has also requested permission to interview Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, and has scheduled an interview with Mike McDaniel, who was fired last week by the Miami Dolphins after four seasons.
The great white whale, of course, is John Harbaugh, who the Baltimore Ravens fired after 18 seasons. The Browns have expressed interest in “bringing Harbaugh home,” but for now, Harbaugh is taking his time to consider which teams he will grace with his presence for an interview.
