The Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) has opened a large-scale recruitment campaign to fill approximately 120 Deputy Principal vacancies. These roles are available across a variety of government departments and locations, marking the first dedicated recruitment drive for this grade in four years.
Deputy Principals hold a vital position within the civil service, contributing to the development and implementation of key government policies. Successful candidates will work closely with senior management to support the delivery of significant public programmes and services. The positions offer a starting salary of £47,304 per annum, complemented by a competitive pension scheme and an attractive annual leave package. By filling these permanent vacancies, the NICS aims to reduce the reliance of various departments on agency staff and temporary internal promotions. The merit list from this competition will also be used to fill further vacancies that may arise while the competition remains live.
The NICS has highlighted its commitment to workplace inclusivity, noting its status as an employer that holds the Silver Diversity Mark and Disability Positive accreditation.
The deadline for submitting applications is 12:00 noon on Friday, 20 March 2026.
