PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with two companies to provide and instal electric vehicle charging bays (EVCB) around Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The agreement with EV Connection Sdn Bhd, operator of the JomCharge platform, and Carput Zap Network Sdn Bhd, a pioneer in green energy solutions and fast charging, will see joint contribution of expertise and infrastructure through a public-private partnership.
The two companies will support the local government in realising its goal of creating a low-carbon city.
“The appointment will see EVCB facilities being installed in phases at public parking spaces and strategic locations under MBPJ’s purview,” said MBPJ’s Corporate Communications Unit in a media statement.
“These facilities will utilise a modern charging technology that complies with safety standards, is user-friendly and efficient, in line with the increasing number of electric vehicle owners.
“This MOU is part of MBPJ’s Green Mobility Partnership initiative, designed to expand the green mobility ecosystem as well as support national aspirations and government policies towards transitioning to low-carbon mobility.
“It further contributes to achieving the national target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050,” the statement said.
