Circle, the issuer of the widely-used USDC stablecoin, has launched native USDC and its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol version 2 (CCTP v2) on Hyperliquid, a growing decentralized exchange (DEX) platform known for its high-performance on-chain order book and execution layer. This move marks a pivotal moment in Circle’s strategy to enable seamless and efficient stablecoin usage across a growing web of interoperable blockchains.
The integration allows traders, developers, and institutions to directly use fully reserved USDC on Hyperliquid without relying on bridges or wrapped assets. Native issuance means that USDC is now minted and redeemed natively on Hyperliquid, offering lower latency, reduced risk, and improved capital efficiency across DeFi applications.
CCTP v2 further enhances this experience by enabling secure and permissionless cross-chain transfers of native USDC between supported blockchains. Unlike traditional bridging protocols that lock tokens and mint wrapped versions, CCTP v2 burns native USDC on the source chain and mints it natively on the destination chain — a model that aligns with security best practices and regulatory expectations.
The timing of the launch coincides with a sharp increase in user activity and liquidity on Hyperliquid. In July, the platform reported USDC inflows of over $1.2 billion, pushing its total assets under management to approximately $5.5 billion. Hyperliquid now hosts around 70% of the USDC circulating on the Arbitrum network, according to third-party analytics.
This influx of capital reflects rising demand for decentralized trading venues that offer speed, transparency, and regulatory alignment — characteristics that are further enhanced by native USDC support. The platform’s HyperCore order book and HyperEVM execution layer enable institutional-grade performance and developer flexibility.
“With native USDC and CCTP v2 available on Hyperliquid, we’re eliminating unnecessary risk and complexity from cross-chain trading,” said a spokesperson from Circle. “This is a major step toward unifying liquidity and simplifying access to real-world value on-chain.”
Beyond end-user trading, the integration opens up new capabilities for developers and institutions. Teams building on HyperEVM can now use native USDC as a settlement layer, powering use cases such as automated vaults, cross-chain treasury rebalancing, and decentralized derivatives trading.
Meanwhile, institutional players can leverage Circle Mint — the firm’s regulated issuance platform — to access compliant on- and off-ramps for USDC on Hyperliquid. This makes the platform more attractive for funds, market makers, and fintech firms looking to deploy capital into on-chain strategies.
As DeFi continues to mature, infrastructure-level integrations like this one are critical for improving liquidity mobility, reducing systemic risk, and enabling new use cases. With the deployment of native USDC and CCTP v2, Hyperliquid and Circle are signaling a shared commitment to building a more efficient, secure, and scalable financial system on-chain.
