Cecil Dean Simmons, a dedicated family man, passed away on May 23, 2025, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on July 31, 1943, in Bogata, Texas, Cecil lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a profound appreciation for the joys of family and the great outdoors.
Cecil’s career as a construction building supervisor demonstrated his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. After retiring, he enjoyed spending his time pursuing hobbies that brought him peace and happiness, including playing golf, fishing, and reveling in the serene moments spent along the coast. His greatest joy, however, came from moments shared with his family and friends, whose companionship he cherished deeply.
He served his country honorably in both the Army and the National Guard, embodying the values of discipline and loyalty that defi ned his character throughout his life.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Jeanell Herring Long Simmons, and their six daughters: Cynthia Cobb, Misty Good, Shauna Bolton, Jeana Knapp, Suzanne Mc-Clelland, and Leighann Morfitt. Each of them, along with their respective spouses, share a legacy of cherished memories and the warmth of his love. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were fortunate enough to benefit from his guidance and affection.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Wharton Simmons, along with his four siblings, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
His unwavering spirit and devoted heart will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Cecil Dean Simmons leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and the treasured moments that unite family and friends together in remembrance.
