MOULTRIE – Colquitt County High School has reached a historic milestone, achieving its highest-ever four-year graduation rate. For the Class of 2025, the graduation rate rose to 90.63%, surpassing 90% for the first time in school history. This marks a 3.07 percentage-point increase over 2024 and a 5.68-point increase since 2018.

Colquitt County Schools also outperformed the state average, with a districtwide graduation rate of 88.3% compared to Georgia’s 87.2%.

In addition to overall gains, the district achieved strong results across all student subgroups. The graduation rates for Black (90.18%), Hispanic (89%), and White (92.7%) students all exceeded the state average for all students. Students With Disabilities saw significant growth, reaching 81.61% — a 15.54-point increase since 2018. Similarly, English Language Learners improved to 83.02%, a 10.52-point increase over the same period.

“Reaching over 90% in our four-year cohort graduation rate for the first time in school history is a remarkable milestone — one that reflects the commitment of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the strong support of our community,” said Superintendent Dan Chappuis. “Earning a high school diploma opens doors for our students and is a critical step toward their future success. At Colquitt County High School, we remain focused not just on graduation, but on ensuring every student leaves with a clear plan to be Enrolled in post-secondary education, Enlisted in military service, or Employed in a meaningful career.”

Georgia calculates a four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate as required by federal law. This rate is:

The number of students who graduate in four years with a regular high school diploma, divided by the number of students who form the adjusted cohort for the graduating class. The definition of the adjusted cohort is as follows: Students, who enter ninth grade, form a cohort. Then, they subsequently adjust the number by adding students who transferred into the cohort during the next three years. Finally, they subtract students who transferred out.
