Tech-focused asset manager ARK Invest says it will begin using data from Kalshi to enhance its investment decision-making, highlighting the growing role of prediction markets beyond trading.
According to Kalshi, ARK plans to incorporate prediction market data to track real-time expectations and strengthen its existing research, alongside analyzing indicators like trading volume, regulatory developments, and technological progress. The firm will also apply this data to risk management and hedging strategies.
Founder and CEO Cathie Wood said integrating prediction markets into institutional workflows is a natural evolution in financial research. Meanwhile, research director Nick Grous noted that such markets provide clear signals of risk tied to economic and company-specific outcomes.
Prediction markets surged in popularity last year, regularly exceeding $10 billion in monthly trading volume. Their data is increasingly being used by institutions like the Federal Reserve and Cornell University for decision-making that depends on real-time market sentiment.
In a post on X, Wood added that ARK has been collaborating with Kalshi to launch new markets on topics of interest, including macroeconomic indicators and scientific developments.
Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour said several of these are already live, including markets tracking nonfarm payrolls, deficit-to-GDP ratios, and key business performance metrics.

Fed, Cornell explore the potential of prediction markets
Researchers at the Federal Reserve have highlighted the growing value of prediction markets, arguing that platforms like Kalshi can track macroeconomic expectations in real time more effectively than traditional tools. They suggested such data could be integrated into the Fed’s policymaking process.
“Kalshi markets provide a high-frequency, continuously updated, distributionally rich benchmark that is valuable to both researchers and policymakers,” the researchers noted.
Meanwhile, academics at Cornell University have studied data from Polymarket to analyze how traders respond to major political events in real time, including debates between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, as well as the 2024 assassination attempt on Trump.
