Cat Deeley has returned to the This Morning sofa following her planned summer holiday – and she’s offered viewers a family update.
Over the summer months, Cat and husband, Late Late Show presenter Patrick Kielty revealed they had separated and chosen to dissolve their marriage.
Now that Cat has appeared on our screens for the first time since announcing the split, she’s provided a family development.
The ITV host disclosed that her younger son is beginning at a fresh school today. “My littlest is starting in his new school today. So he’s got to wear a blazer and he’s popped the collar already,” Cat remarked playfully, whilst beaming and giving the camera a cheeky wink.
The former pair confirmed their separation in July following 12 years of wedlock, leaving supporters stunned, reports RSVP Live.
Their combined statement declared: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.
“We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.”
The duo initially crossed paths in 2003 whilst both hosting the reality talent programme, The Fame Academy. Nevertheless, they didn’t become romantically involved until several years afterwards.
Patrick’s romantic gesture was the catalyst for their love story. “There was a moment, we always used to keep in contact, it was her birthday, and she was in Beverly Hills and I was in Dundrum (County Down),” Patrick previously shared on Loose Women.
“And obviously LA are eight hours behind, it was around tea time with her. I texted her happy birthday from a little Irish pub. It was around two-o-clock in the morning, approaching closing time.
“And she said, ‘It is just a shame you are not in LA because I’m having a lunch tomorrow’ – so I said I will be there.
“So I got up at five, jumped on a six-o-clock flight from Ireland, got into Heathrow at seven, and jumped on a 20 to 10 flight, got in at quarter past one, walked into the Beverly Hills Hotel. I said ‘hi’, she fell off the chair, and we have been together ever since.”
The couple tied the knot in a cosy ceremony in Rome in 2012. They are proud parents to two sons, Milo, nine, and James, seven.
