BOULDER, Colo., February 26, 2026 — Chefs Eduardo Valle Lobo and Kelly Jeun announce the opening of Casa Juani, a seafood-driven marisquería on Boulder’s Pearl Street that pays heartfelt tribute to Lobo’s Spanish heritage and the soulful cooking of his mother, Juani.
Named in her honor, Casa Juani reflects decades of experience in some of the country’s most celebrated kitchens, alongside the couple’s deep exploration of Spain’s culinary regions. The restaurant marks the chefs’ first solo venture together.
“Casa Juani brings everything full circle,” says Valle Lobo. “Returning to my heritage is deeply personal, but the most rewarding part is the opportunity to honor my mother, Juani, who is my north star.”
Located at 901 Pearl Street, just steps from the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Casa Juani offers Iberian coastal specialties, regionally specific heritage dishes, and in-house dry-aged products. The chefs work closely with purveyors sourcing from Spain’s Atlantic, Cantabrian, and Mediterranean seas to present seasonal and sustainable ingredients with authenticity and care.
The menu is organized into six sections, highlighting Spain’s diverse culinary landscape:
Piki-Piki features tableside jamón ibérico and regional cheeses, alongside dishes such as Bikini de Gamba y Cilantro with Catalan shrimp, and Nigiri topped with secreto ibérico and langoustine.
Marisquería celebrates pristine raw preparations, including Navajas Preparadas (razor clams) and Erizo with sea urchin and jamón ibérico.
Pescado highlights seafood traditions with Bacalao Rebozado (Spanish salt cod) and Lenguado Asado Estilo Bilbao (sole roasted Bilbao-style).
Carne honors classic techniques through dishes like Pato Asado featuring Liberty Farm duck and Carrilleras de Ibérico (pork cheek).
De la Huerta (“From the Garden”) includes Arroz con Setas made with Catalan rice inspired by Juani’s home cooking, and Alcachofas Fritas (fried artichoke flowers).
Para la Mesa (“For the Table”) presents larger-format offerings such as Pluma ibérica and the in-house dry-aged Chuleta (ribeye).
“This menu is our way of expressing ourselves as chefs together for the first time,” says Jeun. “It’s beautiful to work alongside Eduardo as he shares his Spanish roots and honors his mother. When we tell people the name is Casa Juani, it is always met with a big, heartwarming smile.”
The beverage program, developed in collaboration with General Manager Daniel Dirth — who previously worked with Jeun at Eleven Madison Park — centers on Spanish wines, alongside selections from Portugal, France, Italy, and American producers. The menu also features local beers, vermouth, Basque cider on draft, and cocktails inspired by classic Spanish libations such as Pomadas from Menorca and Rebujitos from Sevilla.
The 100-seat restaurant, designed by ARCH11, embraces Mediterranean minimalism. A custom-built wine room and 38-seat full-service bar open toward a live-edge black walnut chef’s table for intimate tasting experiences. An L-shaped marisquería anchors the dining room, allowing guests to watch raw preparations firsthand. Crisp white walls, light oak finishes, blue and burnt-orange tile accents, and warm camel furnishings create an airy yet inviting atmosphere. A retractable wall of windows opens to a heated 18-seat patio, blending the restaurant’s interior with the energy of the street.
Casa Juani operates Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
