Cache Community Connections recognized Carol Foht Wednesday for her part in organizing the Logan Tabernacle Interfaith Summer Noon Concert series.
Prior to Wednesday’s concert, Cache Community Connections Director Wayne Dymock presented Foht with a gift basket and thanked her for her work. The recognition was met with a standing ovation from the concert’s attendees.
Foht started helping with the concerts about five years ago and took the lead three years ago. This year the concert series included 53 performances or lectures.
“It’s no small thing to do 53 concerts over 10 weeks,” Dymock told The Herald Journal after the concert.
According to Dymock, Foht finds the ushers, arranges for the use of the building, puts together the performance lineup and really tries to make it a community event for everyone. He said she is already working on next year’s lineup.
He said he and the other members of Cache Community Connections felt Foht deserved some recognition for the work she puts into the concert series all year long.
Dymock described Foht as connected, passionate, driven, personable and “just phenomenal.”
“Cache Valley is lucky to have her,” Dymock said.
Foht said it was humbling to be recognized by the community Wednesday.
People have told her it seems like a lot of work and responsibility, but Foht said she is thankful she is able to do it and plans to do it as long as she can.
“It’s the best non-paying job I’ve ever had,” Foht said.
She said the concerts and the summer citizen program as a whole benefit the community economically, but it also brings people together from different backgrounds.
“That’s how you learn to get along, when you have an opportunity to get to know people that are different from yourself. That’s when things start to change,” Foht said.
Foht said on average, about 250-280 people attend the concerts, though on occasion this summer there were well over 500. Many of those who come to watch the concerts are Summer Citizens, but Foht said she has noticed more people from the community joining.
This year’s concert series finishes Thursday with a performance by Rockie Ricks and Friends.
Cache Community Connections is a group of interfaith religious and civic leaders that came together in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack.
