ADA’s price coils in a multi-month channel with fading downside pressure: classic setup for a break-out?
In a time span of three weeks, Cardano’s (ADA) largest investors took the time to acquire over 210 million tokens, potentially positioning themselves for a big bounce. Despite nailing the $0.85 yearly high last Autumn, Cardano’s (ADA) downward slope since then has tested the altcoin’s lower support boundaries between $0.35 to $0.42.
Judging from technical ADA metrics, it’s clear that the altcoin still has extensive support further down till the $0.28 area. Moreover, the recent launch of Cardano’s Midnight privacy blockchain has sparked a fresh wave of inflows, boosting the side token NIGHT beyond 200% in the first two weeks since launch, says CoinGecko’s data.
Next Cardano Target Now Relies On Two Factors
Now, with Cardano’s (ADA) big-time investors gradually returning to the scene, Cardano’s make-or-break point lies at $0.40. This falls in line with the red-label Bollinger Band (BOLL). Before this can be reclaimed, Cardano bulls have to retrieve the $0.36 price level, aligning with the Smoothed Moving Average (SMA), presented in purple in the chart below.
Meanwhile, the broader crypto markets continue to take in billions of dollars in liquidations as Bitcoin (BTC) retreats to $90K. If BTC & ETH fall below their current key thresholds, it’s likely to pass on to the major-cap altcoins, Cardano (ADA) included. However, Midnight’s breakthrough can help ADA decouple from the rest of the market, but NIGHT token fell as well.
Can Clarity Act Still Serve Cardano a Boost?
Even though the Clarity Act is continuously criticized by Cardano’s founder Charles Hoskinson, the new crypto-related legislation could still have a positive impact on ADA. Many market watchers argue that clearer rules for institutions could drastically increase Cardano’s mass appeal.
Lashing out on Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse for accepting the current terms of the Clarity Act as “better than nothing”, Cardano’s Hoskinson thinks that curbing decentralized finance (DeFI) in the way that transactions are reversible goes against the core principles of crypto.
On the other hand, the Clarity Act would allow Google Cloud to run a standalone Cardano (ADA) staking pool. For the red-hot ETF market, Cardano is yet to offer an ADA ETF, possibly due to the lack of demand. If the regulation is met with institutional enthusiasm, this might no longer be a problem for Cardano bulls.
