Canada issues a new travel warning for the United States. It highlights risks for visa holders and permanent residents. LGBTQ+ travelers may face stricter entry rules. United States policies on gender identity documentation are changing. Canadians must check all travel documents carefully. This action will prevent border delays and entry denials.

The Canadian government has put out a new travel warning for people who want to go to the United States. The notice says that LGBTQ+ travelers may have to deal with canceled visas, stricter entry rules, and new problems. The changes come as the U.S. federal government’s policies on documenting gender identity are still changing.

The new advisory says that most Canadian citizens can stay in the U.S. for up to six months without a visa. However, U.S. authorities may review or even cancel visas that have already been issued for people who need one. Some of the reasons are previous criminal convictions, breaking the rules for admission, or a new evaluation of eligibility, according to Newsweek.

The advice also says that people who live in the U.S. permanently may be at risk in the same way. If they stay outside the country longer than they are allowed to, or if problems from the past come up again during eligibility reviews, they may lose their residency status.

The Canadian government paid special attention to travelers who are 2SLGBTQI+. It warns that people with gender-neutral “X” markers on their passports may have to go through more checks because U.S. systems are being changed so that gender identity designations are no longer accepted, according to Newsweek.

The advisory says that federal forms may now need to include “sex assigned at birth.” This could have an effect on visa applications, NEXUS enrollment, passenger manifests, Social Security records, and even applications for U.S. passports, according to Newsweek.

Before going to the United States, Ottawa tells travelers to double-check their paperwork. To avoid delays or being turned away at the border, it’s important to make sure that all of your documents meet U.S. entry requirements.

What does Canada’s new travel warning for the U.S. say?

It talks about the dangers of visa cancellations, re-evaluations of eligibility, and stricter checks of documents.

Why does the advisory only mention LGBTQ+ travelers?

Because the U.S. federal government is getting rid of gender identity markers, Canadians with “X” passports may have problems.
