Summer campers at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Mount Pleasant recently donated more than $500 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. Over the past few weeks, campers held a bake sale and sold lemonade to benefit local children and their families supported by the organization. Through this initiative, campers learned the importance of helping children in need.
Chesterbrook Academy Preschool instills a sense of social responsibility at an early age by implementing opportunities for students to learn about the importance of giving back to their communities and helping others in need. Its signature Links to Learning preschool curriculum emphasizes social emotional learning as a stepping stone for kindergarten and beyond. Teachers work with children to help recognize and label emotions in themselves and others, while learning how they fit into their community and the larger world.
