Bybit is making a decisive move into the decentralized finance arena with the launch of its new decentralized exchange, Byreal, built on the Solana blockchain. This marks a strategic pivot toward a CeDeFi model, a hybrid approach that aims to merge the institutional-grade liquidity of centralized exchanges with the transparency and self-custody principles native to DeFi.
Byreal will not be just another run-of-the-mill DEX. It’s designed with a hybrid trading engine that combines RFQ (Request for Quote) mechanics with a CLMM (Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker) model. This dual approach will allow users to execute trades with minimal slippage and lower vulnerability to manipulation or harmful arbitrage. According to CEO Ben Zhou, this architecture is crafted to offer a seamless and efficient experience for both retail and institutional participants.
One of Byreal’s most distinctive features is its “Reset Launch” system, built to democratize access to new token offerings. The mechanism is designed to move away from launchpad structures that disproportionately benefit whales, promoting fairer token distribution. Complementing this is a set of optimized yield solutions, such as the “Revive Vaults,” which will generate returns on bbSOL, a staked version of Solana native to Bybit’s DeFi ecosystem.
The timing of this launch is notable. Decentralized exchange activity has been surging globally. According to DeFiLlama, monthly DEX volume exceeded $400 billion in May, with Solana emerging as the second most active blockchain after Ethereum. In this landscape, Byreal aims to capitalize on Solana’s high throughput and efficiency, which has boasted 100% uptime in 2025 and throughput peaks of up to 65,000 transactions per second.
Bybit’s choice to build on Solana marks a clear departure from competitors like Coinbase, which are increasingly focused on Ethereum Layer 2 solutions. This strategic direction could give Byreal a competitive edge in a market largely led by Uniswap, PancakeSwap, and Raydium.
