
A busy Edinburgh road was closed on Wednesday afternoon as emergency services raced to a collision. Drum Street was shut by police just before 4pm on March 4.
The closure comes after reports of a road traffic collision. The number of vehicles involved is not known.
Edinburgh Travel News warned motorists and locals with bus diversions put in place. Services including 3, 29 and X29 were all impacted.
A statement on X reads: “Drum Street. Reports of an RTC at / near Gilmerton Station Road roundabout. Traffic looks slow from Gilmerton crossroads so expect delays.”
Lothian Buses wrote: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Drum Street and are instead diverted via Gilmerton Station Road, Lasswade Road, Gilmerton Dykes Street and Newtoft Street in both directions until further notice.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.50pm on Wednesday, 4 March, 2026, we received a report of a crash at Drum Street with the junction of Gilmerton Station Road. Emergency services are in attendance.”
