The priceless reaction of a Bulldog greeting his owner after he returned home ensured there wasn’t a dry eye among the animal lovers who witnessed it. The pooch in question has his own dedicated social media account – Gary the Bulldog – where his owners document his antics.
After spotting his ‘daddy’ enter their property, Gary can be seen sprinting across the laminate flooring to see him, before jumping up at him in delight. “Look at that love!” his ‘mummy’ declared. “Why didn’t mummy get that? I bet he goes to the fridge!” Indeed, after three seconds of patting, Gary swiftly attempted to lead his owner to the appliance where he gazed up at the handle in anticipation.
‘Daddy’ duly obliged, providing Gary with a treat before the pair shared a second loving embrace.
Writing in response, one TikTok user gushed: “Gary loves him so much and knows him so well it seems.”
A second person quipped: “Oh Gary you little monkey. All that fuss because you wanted a treat.” A third declared: “Yep, Gary is my favourite English bulldog on TikTok and there is a lot of competition.”
While a fourth TikTok user had advice for ‘mummy’: “Don’t let it wind you up though when they favourite the one who doesn’t do anything for them. Gary would miss you if you wasn’t there, you need to play more hard to get with him.”
To which she replied: “Well I’ll be out a lot next week with work so let’s see how much he misses me then!”
And a fifth joked: “He’s got daddy well trained!”
When it comes to Bulldogs’ nature, Purina advises online: “This is a family dog that loves children, and will even learn to get along with other pets, if introduced to them at an early age.
“The Bulldog is a bit too friendly to be a good guard dog, but would defend a family member in need. They can be peaceful, pensive, goofy, stubborn, and have a well-developed sense of humour.”
It adds: “Tenacious and courageous, but also goofy, the Bulldog breed has been a worldwide symbol for toughness throughout the years, which is why you’ve most likely seen them in either schools or businesses across the world.
“However, despite being depicted as a ferocious dog, the Bulldog is actually highly affectionate and kind, as well as courageous.
“Highly adaptable and big fans of naps and treats, but quite stubborn, Bulldogs would be great companions for someone who already has some experience and knows how to properly look after them.”
