Former Browns coach Kevin Stefanski interviewed with the Baltimore Ravens.
Kevin Stefanski may not be ready to leave the AFC North after being fired by the Cleveland Browns.
Stefanski, who was let go by the Browns on January 5, interviewed with the Baltimore Ravens for their vacant head coaching position on Friday. Baltimore fired long-time head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The Ravens made the announcement that they had interviewed Stefanski on social media and it garnered a lot more traction than the other interview announcements. The other coaches interviewed included Klint Kubiak, Davis Webb and Vance Joseph. Fans in Baltimore did not appear to be in favor of bringing in Stefanski. He went 4-8 in his 12 meetings with the Ravens, including 0-2 this season.
“Immediately no, where’s the dislike button?” one fan said.
“I understand due diligence in these interviews but don’t piss us off we’ve been thru enough,” another added.
“Yall better read the comments Ravens!! We ain’t goin for that,” another comment said.
It’s the second interview for Stefanski, and more are expected for the two-time NFL Coach of the Year. He interviewed with the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders earlier in the week and is expected to meet with the Tennessee Titans over the weekend.
The only other coaching candidate who is more sought after than Stefanski is Harbaugh. And Cleveland is very interested in the former Ravens skipper.
Per Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, Harbaugh “won’t begin interviewing until next week… but the Browns will likely be on the list unless Harbaugh already has a slam-dunk job with another team. He’s believed to have a legitimate interest in coaching the Browns, even with the uncertain quarterback situation and looming rebuild of the offense.”
Harbaugh spent 18 seasons with the brownsand compiled a 180-133 regular-season record. His tenure was highlighted by a Super Bowl XLVII victory. Harbaugh does have personal ties to the city of Cleveland. In a 2018 interview, he acknowledged his family’s deep Cleveland roots.
“All of our family on my mom’s side is from Cleveland, and all of my family on my dad’s side is Browns fans. We all grew up Browns fans,” Harbaugh said.
