The Broncos overcame a 19-point deficit with 33 fourth-quarter points.
Cooper let it be known that he has the utmost confidence in Nix while questioning the motivation behind the attempt at humor.
“If you’re @BoNix10 what are you making @JonathonCooper7 buy you?” movie director Jared Cotton posted on X on October 20. “I’d ask for A HOUSE, but maybe attach it Coop’s house, so he can come over get snacks whenever. That sounds about fair… @Broncos”
Bonitto and Cooper are close, spending time together off the field and even conducting postgame interviews alongside one another. So, it is not surprising to see the former come to the latter’s aid during an ambiguous interaction.
Nix has likewise been effusive with praise for Bonitto, Cooper, and the Broncos’ defense.
Notably, Cooper did not mention that Nix and the Broncos’ offense had been shutout through three quarters during the contest.
They had 16 first downs to 28 for the Giants entering the fourth quarter, getting outgained 292 yards to 180 yards in that span. That disparity set the stage for their historic comeback despite having less than 1.0% chance of victory with 6:38 to go in the game, per NFL Next Gen Stats.
Cooper and the Broncos’ defense struggled to contain the Giants’ passing game.
The Broncos’ defense allowed 387 yards to the Giants, the second-most of the season for Denver and New York.
Cooper said Dart was “feeling himself” after early success taking over for former Broncos QB Russell Wilson as the Giants’ QB1.
He later clarified that he was paying a compliment to Dart.
Cooper also expressed support for former college teammate Justin Fields, whose status as the New York Jets’ starter is in question entering Week 8, after the Broncos’ win in London in Week 6 during which Denver recorded 9 sacks.
Up next, Bonitto, Cooper, and Nix will look to notch the Broncos’ fifth win of the season when they take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8.
