Brock Bowers came into Week 1 already owning an argument as the NFL’s best tight end.
Coming into the Las Vegas Raiders’ season-opening matchup against the New England Patriots, it was highly expected that Bowers would settle in as new quarterback Geno Smith’s top weapon in Las Vegas’ passing game. And through three quarters on Sunday, that was the case.
Bowers was over the 100-yard receiving mark in the fourth quarter of the Raiders’ Week 1 game, but he then went to the medical tent with an apparent knee injury.

Here’s the latest on Bowers’ status after his injury against New England.

Bowers was often drafted as the TE1 in fantasy football leagues this season, and he made good on that honor against the Patriots. He had five catches for 103 yards as of the fourth quarter, when Las Vegas was looking to close out a Week 1 win.
However, Bowers then took a hit to his legs in the fourth quarter while near the sideline, and after staying on the field a bit longer, the tight end went over to the medical tent after showing a visible limp.

After spending some time in the medical tent, the Raiders officially tagged Bowers as questionable to return with a knee injury.
ESPN reporter Ryan McFadden reported that Bowers was “out with his helmet on, talking to trainers and jogging back and forth,” following his time in the medical tent. The tight end remained out for the remainder of Las Vegas’ series following the injury.
It remains to be seen if Bowers will return in Week 1, or remain healthy enough to return for Week 2, but should he miss any more time, the star’s potential absence could leave Pete Carroll’s Raiders already short-handed in the passing game in the new season.
