A popular holiday destination for Brits has seen its major airports close after explosions have reported to have been heard across the United Arab Emirates.
Dubai’s two airports, Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC), have suspended all flight operations as United Arab Emirates closed its airspace following attacks on Iran by US and Israeli forces.
The overnight attacks on Iran have provoked retaliation from the country with missiles being directed at Israel and across the Middle East, with some targets being US military bases.
In a statement from the Dubai Media Office on X, it read: “Dubai Airports confirms that all flight operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) are suspended until further notice.
“Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport at this time and to contact their respective airlines directly for the latest updates regarding their flights.
“We appreciate the cooperation of our guests. Further updates will be provided as we continue to monitor the situation.”
