DHAKA, July 2, 2025 (BSS)-The players’ draft of the next edition of
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is likely to be held on October.
In a recent board of directors’ meeting, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BPL)
announced that the 12th edition of BPL will be held in December-January.
“First of all, we have set a timeframe for the next edition of BPL. I think
the draft will not be held before October,” BPL governing council chairman
Mahbub Anam said here today.
“We’ll go into the process of adding franchises and involve the sports
management company. This will take some months to finish.”
It is decided that the franchise ownership will be given for five years and
the foreign company also can apply provided they meet the criteria.
“It is open for all. We will decide a criterion based on our experience and
the advice of those (agencies) who have done this successfully before,” BCB
director Iftekhar Mithu had said earlier.
“Then the board will take a decision. If those criteria are met, and if
everything is in line with our government’s policies, they (foreign company)
will be able to take the team ownership.”
