Continuing this commitment to social impact, BPI (An Imprint of S Chand Group), in collaboration with Anandaya Foundation, has launched an inspiring new book series titled Maya which uses simple, child-friendly stories to raise awareness about child rights and protection. Through engaging narratives and sing-along melodies, the series empowers underserved children with knowledge while strengthening their literacy skills. The series was formally unveiled at The Imperial, New Delhi by Dr. Rashmi Singh, IAS officer and the current Executive Director, National Mission for Empowerment of Women at the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. Dr. Singh also holds the additional charge of Special Secretary and Director, Social Welfare, Government of Delhi.
Speaking at the event, Dr Rashmi Singh said, “I am very happy to see how Anandaya Foundation has created Maya with a strong social purpose — to speak directly to children about their rights, responsibilities, and how to protect themselves. The stories are crafted in a way that children can truly connect with — gentle, creative, and empowering. When these books were presented to me, I was deeply moved. Every child deserves to grow up aware and safe, and this initiative can play a powerful role in that journey. I hope to see these books in every school, childcare institution, and safe space for children across the country.”
Ms. Jaishree Goyal, Founder Trustee of Anandaya Foundation, a philanthropic organization, dedicated towards improving foundational reading & learning skills among children from low-income households said, “Anandaya foundation in partnership with BPI (An Imprint of S Chand Group) has created books for the children of the underserved community. These children often live with risks they don’t yet recognise — child marriage, trafficking, and child labour among them. They don’t know these are violations of their rights. And a child should never have to experience trauma to learn about it. That’s where Maya steps in. Through these child-friendly stories, Maya and her friends introduce these concepts with sensitivity and care — helping children know what to watch out for, how to say ‘No,’ and where to seek help. Every book ends with a sing-along melody, so the message is not only understood but remembered. Let’s use stories to inform and inspire — while also building their literacy and confidence.”
