On October 1, 2025, BNB Chain notified all BNB Smart Chain (BSC) validators and builders that the minimum gas price had been changed to 0.05 Gwei. The change reduces the transaction expenses to 0.005 which makes BSC one of the least expensive blockchains. Validators were used to verify that they were ready and that the transactions processed smoothly at the lower cost.
The cost of BSC gas has continued to decrease: 3 Gwei in April 2024, 1 Gwei in 2024, 0.1 Gwei in May 2025 and now, 0.05 Gwei. The net decrease of 98.33% is an indication of a planned approach to increase access and bring in greater activity. The most recent update reduced charges by 50 percent versus May 2025, advancing the competitive motivation of BSC in comparison to other networks.
Reduced charges have been a driver towards adoption. By 2025, BSC had an average of 12 million daily transactions, which was 140 percent higher than the beginning of 2024. The current utilization is less than 30 percent of capacity with infrastructure capable of supporting 36 million transactions per day- three times the current. Such scalability means that BSC will not get congested when it grows in the future. January-June 2025: Swap activity increased to 67 percent of total activity as compared to 20% in 2025.
The staking pool BNB Chain has staked 26.29 million BNB, which is worth $26.29 billion at a price of $1,000 per BNB, in 45 out of 52 active validators, which is also decentralized through the Proof-of-Staked-Authority (PoSA) model. Nevertheless, even with a reduction in fees, validator rewards remained above 0.5 per cent, as the price of BNB saw upward momentum and reached 1,000 USD in September 2025.
BSC is significantly cheaper than Ethereum Layer 1, with an average fee of one and a half in 2025 under congestion. It competes with Solana 0.00025-0.01 with a range of 0.00025 to 0.01 at a low, offering efficiency and still being compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) apps. The present BSC has a throughput of 200 TPS, and block intervals will drop to 450ms instead of 750ms, increasing the throughput to 2.22 blocks per second.
In Q3 2025, Binance shared the amount of trading volume at $10.1 billion, which contributes to the financial well-being of the entire ecosystem. In 2012, the BSC has invested in infrastructure upgrades of the company worth 50 million dollars which includes node upgrades and layer-2 solutions.
