BNB has now surpassed Switzerland’s Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) in market capitalization, fueling a wave of bullish sentiment and fresh debate over crypto’s place in the financial sector.
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, better known as CZ, seized on the moment to urge banks to begin integrating BNB into their operations.
Data from Companies Market Cap shows UBS is valued at just over $129 billion, while TradingView places BNB’s market cap slightly higher at $130.6 billion. For Zhao, the comparison is proof that digital assets are no longer fringe instruments but rivals to established banking institutions. He pledged to personally help any bank explore BNB’s use in payments, trading, and blockchain applications, emphasizing that integration could provide tangible benefits.
BNB’s influence is already expanding beyond Binance’s ecosystem. It plays a central role in trading fee discounts, blockchain applications, and now in institutional partnerships. A recent collaboration with asset manager Franklin Templeton highlighted the growing recognition of BNB as more than just an exchange token.
Momentum on the charts is adding weight to Zhao’s appeal. Market strategist Ali noted that BNB has broken out of its correction phase, projecting a potential surge to $1,300. The structure, he said, shows buyers reclaiming control and setting the stage for a continued rally.
At press time, BNB was trading around $942 after an intraday gain of nearly 2%. That caps a strong run — up 11% in the past month, 56% over six months, and more than 72% compared with a year ago. Year-to-date, the token remains ahead by 34%.
The rally has revived a viral debate over whether BNB could one day serve as a mainstream alternative to traditional banking products. While critics argue crypto assets remain too volatile to replace banks, BNB’s steady growth and institutional interest suggest its role in global finance may only be expanding.
For now, the comparison with UBS serves as a symbolic milestone: a reminder that digital assets are beginning to rival century-old institutions in scale — and that banks may soon face pressure to adapt.
