Blockchain Deposit Insurance Corporation BDIC is proud to announce the appointment of James McCarthy as Senior Strategic Advisor to BDIC Insurance and additionally appointed as Chief Operating Officer of BDIC RWA Consulting, the newly launched global advisory division focused on real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. BDIC RWA will provide both consulting services and token coverage vetting for BDIC Insurance as they help nations and enterprises embrace the digital age through secure, compliant blockchain infrastructure and tokenization projects.
With over five decades of experience in finance and private equity, McCarthy brings a deep well of global deal-making expertise. He has been involved in billions of dollars of transactions in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America, and is currently spearheading several high-impact RWA initiatives. These include structuring a tokenized U.S. real estate fund, preparing a U.S.-based bridge-lending platform for listing on a U.K. Alternative Trading System, and partnering with a LATAM consortium to tokenize both real estate and alternative asset classes.

McCarthy holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Master of City & Regional Planning from Rutgers University. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for LendMetrix, a fintech/proptech startup modernizing construction-loan management and preparing to scale across additional real estate lending verticals.

McCarthy is the lead underwriter and internal vetting SOP director at BDIC RWA when it comes to considering existing tokenization projects and their token offerings for BDIC insurance coverage. Additionally, McCarthy will lead the project inception, delivery and execution for new partner projects BDIC RWA Consulting is strategically aligning with moving forward during the expansion into tokenized projects. “Several sovereign nations and Fortune 500 companies have engaged BDIC RWA for White Papers on country and project tokenization, we are inspired by the incoming interest for assistance and in having the token offerings covered by BDIC” commented MCCarthy.
McCarthy’s appointment marks a significant step forward for BDIC as the company expands its global presence and continues delivering on its vision of bringing trust, transparency, and insurance-backed protection to the digital asset ecosystem. The appointment also comes at a pivotal time, as BDIC’s Hong Kong operations, led by Paul Kohli, advance efforts to secure regulatory approval as an insurance provider and pursue coverholder status with Lloyd’s of London having established its banking operating accounts with Hang Seng bank last month.
Following the recent appointment of enterprise software veteran Oliver Plukrose as Chief Technology Officer and the addition of technology visionary James R. Owens to BDIC’s Board of Advisors, BDIC continues to build on its strategic momentum. These key leadership additions have helped shape the company’s infrastructure and vision. Plukrose bringing decades of experience in building secure, scalable systems for global institutions, and Owens offering deep expertise in decentralized architecture and smart contract integrity.
Additionally, BDIC plans to launch their native utility token (used for payments, settlements and governance and other features) as part of an initial coin offering with the planned token generation event in Q4 2025.
