SIBU (Sept 13): The arts and culture-themed Blast Youth Forum 2025, held for the first time here, is set to become an iconic annual event gathering youths from across the Asean region.

Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng said the encouraging response demonstrated the programme’s potential to grow into a prestigious platform for young people and creative arts practitioners.

“What begins today will not end here.

“I hope the Blast Youth Forum would become an iconic event for Sibu – bringing together K-pop enthusiasts, dancers, and creative minds from within and beyond the country,” he said when officiating at the forum.

Organised by the Sibu Creative Arts Enthusiasts Club, the forum featured K-pop dance, performances, creative workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions with invited guests from Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Also present were the club’s chairman Hii Duan Chuan, Sarawak Business Event senior manager of business development Donny Tan, Bukit Assek Service Centre representative Councillor Kiing Teck Ho, and forum organising chairperson Jasmine Tou.

According to Chieng, the forum not only highlights interest in K-pop but also provides a platform for youth development, creativity, and community building through performing arts.

“Through dance, youths learn values such as discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and positive self-expression.

“Beyond that, this forum also promotes cultural exchange and regional unity through the universal language of art,” he added.

He expressed hope the forum would evolve into part of Sibu’s identity as a town that supported the arts, culture, and youth development.

The two-day forum, which concluded today, featured panellists including Joze from the Philippines, Malvin from Indonesia, as well as Tiffany Teoh and First Blood from Malaysia, who shared their insights on K-pop culture, dance, and career opportunities in the performing arts.

More than 300 youths interested in modern arts and culture took part in this maiden event.
