Romania remains a key focus for our long-term development”, declared Daniel Gross, CEO PENNY Romania and Board Member BIPA Romania.
After the opening of the first store in Mega Mall Bucharest, the company will continue its strong expansion plan with a plan between 20 – 25 store openings per year. Romania is the third country in BIPA’s international expansion plan, after Austria and Croatia.
Founded 45 years ago, BIPA is today not only the best-known company in the Austrian drugstore sector, but also the undisputed favorite of around 3.3 million loyal regular customers. The successful concepts from Austria and Croatia will also be available in Romania, with special attention to the local habits and needs of the Romanian customers.
In 2025 BIPA breaks through the 1 billion euros turnover barrier in Austria and Croatia, laying the foundation for its entry into Romania with this sustained positive development. In the past three years alone, BIPA has increased its turnover in Austria by more than 25 per cent, and in Croatia by more than 72 per cent in the comparative period from 2021 to 2024, making BIPA Croatia the most successful unit in REWE Group.
