Binance made a move this morning that got traders talking. The exchange — the biggest in crypto by volume — announced it’s removing the “seed tag” from five altcoins: BONK, PEPE, PENGU, ETHFI, and EIGEN. The change kicks in on July 21, 2025, assuming nothing shifts between now and then.
For those not deep in crypto jargon, seed tags are basically warning labels. They’re slapped on newer or riskier tokens to flag that they might swing wildly in price. Binance didn’t spell out exactly why these five got the upgrade, but it’s likely because they’ve stuck around long enough to seem less volatile. Or maybe trading volumes settled. Who knows? The announcement was pretty matter-of-fact.
Almost as soon as the news dropped, prices for some of the coins started creeping up. PEPE and BONK, in particular, saw small bumps — nothing earth-shattering, but enough to notice. It’s one of those things where the market reacts before anyone really digests what it means.
