Binance has named co-founder Yi He as co-CEO, formally elevating one of the company’s earliest architects to share leadership with CEO Richard Teng.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during Binance Blockchain Week, where Teng described He’s appointment as “a natural progression,” noting that she “has been an integral part of the executive leadership team since the launch of Binance.”
Before becoming co-CEO, He served as Binance’s chief marketing officer, playing a key role in expanding the platform’s community and driving product innovation. In her new role, she said sharing leadership with Teng would combine two distinct perspectives, with Teng contributing his experience in regulated financial markets.
Yi He co-founded Binance in 2017 alongside Changpeng “CZ” Zhao and has been a central figure in the company’s growth since its inception.

Richard Teng was named CEO of Binance in late November 2023, following the resignation of Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, who subsequently pleaded guilty to charges brought by the U.S. Department of Justice. Prior to his promotion, Teng served as the company’s head of regional markets outside the United States.
