Bills Looking to Steal Up-and-Coming Offensive Coach from Cardinals

The Bills have requested to interview Cardinals’ pass game specialist Connor Senger for their quarterbacks coach opening

The Buffalo Bills have made it clear early on this offseason that they are intent on getting over the hump and finding their way to the Super Bowl in 2026. Early on this offseason, they have already fired head coach Sean McDermott and replaced him with their own offensive coordinator, Joe Brady. Now, Brady is hard at work building his coaching staff as he begins to take control of the operation in Buffalo.

On Friday morning, Brady made his first big hire, as he tabbed Denver Broncos’ senior offensive assistant Pete Carmichael Jr. to be his offensive coordinator. Now that he’s onboard, Brady can begin fleshing out the rest of his offensive staff, and that has led him to target an up-and-coming coach from the Arizona Cardinals, Connor Senger.

Brady’s decision to hire Carmichael, who was a longtime offensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints before landing with the Broncos, has been met with universal acclaim. Brady worked with Carmichael for a pair of seasons in New Orleans, so their familiarity with each other should help as Buffalo looks to make life easier for superstar quarterback Josh Allen.

Of course, finding a guy who is essentially going to become Allen’s best friend as the team’s quarterbacks coach is equally important. Brady has quickly identified Senger, who is the Cardinals’ pass game specialist, as a potential option, as he could be on the move after the team fired its own head coach, Jonathan Gannon, in the wake of its 2025 campaign.

Senger previously played quarterback in college with the Wisconsin Badgers and Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans before transitioning into coaching. He’s been with the Cardinals for the past four seasons, and his work in 2025 with backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett and the offense’s passing attack has resulted in him drawing attention across the league. As a result, Buffalo wants to interview Senger for its quarterbacks coach position.

“The Bills and Packers requested interviews with Cardinals pass game specialist Connor Senger, who will interview for both teams’ quarterbacks coach jobs, per sources,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported in a post on X. “A former college QB, Senger called plays at this week’s East-West Shrine Bowl. He’s only 30.”

Senger appears to be one of the fastest-rising young coaches in the league, as he could be set for a fairly significant promotion at just 30 years old. The problem for the Bills when it comes to their pursuit of Senger is that they aren’t alone, as the Green Bay Packers have also requested to interview the promising Cardinals coach for their own quarterbacks coach position.

Having an opportunity to work with Allen may simply be too good for Senger to pass up, though. Buffalo wants to ensure that Allen has all the tools needed to succeed moving forward, and surrounding him with a solid coaching staff is going to be crucial. Brady has done a good job so far, and landing Senger would be a huge addition for him as he gets off the ground in his new role with the Bills.
