Bharat Bandh Today: Are banks, schools, transport and government offices closed or open in Mumbai?

Bharat Bandh Today: Mumbai is expected to face partial disruptions on Thursday as over 30 crore workers participate in a nationwide strike. The bandh, which was called by a joint forum of central trade unions and backed by farmers, has been organised to oppose the new Labour codes and other government policies. Residents in major cities, including Mumbai, can expect a temporary halt in services such as banking, public transport, and government offices.

While there is no official confirmation or reports that suggest Mumbai will be impacted due to Bharat Bandh on February 12, commuters are advised to plan their day accordingly. Demonstrations on muliple areas, blockage of roads, or other service interruptions could affect the daily schedule in different parts of the financial capital.

Schools: Educational institutions such as schools and colleges will remain open in Mumbai today despite the Bharat Bandh, as no official closure has been announced yet.

Banks: According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list, February 12 has not been declared a public holiday. However, as several banking unions extend support to the strike, some public sector bank branches in Mumbai may experience a shortage of staff. Bank-related services that may face significant disruptions include cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearance services, counter services, and loan processing.

Transport and commercial markets: Bharat Bandh is likely to trigger transport disruptions in areas where protests are taking place and partial market closures.
