
…..Tor Lobi Urges Tinubu To Sustain Steps To Address Security In Benue
MAKURDI: The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, on Tuesday presented the Mid Term Report of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the people of Benue State.
The Minister who observed that the event was not all about presenting a report, but a demonstration of transparency, accountability, and the commitment of the FG government to the Nigerian people about the record of the administration’s efforts and policies, in some key sectors such as education, health among others in the last two years.
Among some of the infrastructural projects by the administration of President Tinubu in Benue that were
highlighted at the event were the ongoing Makurdi – Otukpo – Enugu road, the Buruku – Gboko, Wannune and Ugbema water supply projects in the state.
Meanwhile, the Tor Lobi, HRH Chief Moses Anagende has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to increase the momentum and sustain the tempo he has initiated in addressing issues of insecurity affecting communities in Benue state.
He however pleaded with the Federal Government (FG) to ensure that security agents, particularly the soldiers and others that were in the forefront of the fight against insecurity were properly taken care of, in order to win the war against insecurity.
The traditional ruler disclosed this while speaking at the occasion of the official presentation of the President Tinubu’s administration’s Mid Term Report to the people of the state by the Minister in Makurdi.
The Royal Father further observed that like priests, the traditional rulers were in touch with the people and knew where it hurts them most and the desire to address issues of insecurity was dear to the heart of the people of Benue.
He therefore called on the FG to work towards the construction of the Makurdi – Naka – Adoka road as well as the Abinsi – Tyulen – Wukari road and the bridge across River Benue at Tyulen, and make it motorable, adding that it would go a long way in addressing insecurity in Benue.
Earlier, the Minster of Information, who was represented at the occasion, by the Head, Federal Information Center, Makurdi, Mrs Irene Onehi, said, the presentation were facts of challenges confronted, promises fulfilled by the Tinubu administration; from stabilizing the economy to expanding digital innovation among other achievements.
Idris said, “We are gathered here today in Makurdi to reflect on the journey of our great nation under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and to present to you the Nigerian people a comprehensive account of what has been achieved in the last two years.
“This is not just a report, it is a demonstration of transparency, accountability, and the government’s unwavering commitment to the Nigerian people. It is a record of the administration’s efforts, policies, projects, and impacts across key sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, digital economy, security, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, and social development.
“As the Ministry is charged with the responsibility of communicating government policies, programs, and achievements to the public, the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation believes that the people must not only be informed but also be involved in the nation-building process.
“Today, we open the books and present the facts a story of challenges confronted, promises fulfilled, and a nation on the rise. From stabilizing the economy to expanding digital innovation, from transforming transportation infrastructure to ensuring uninterrupted academic sessions in our universities this administration has made significant strides”, the minister pointed out.
In his address during the presentation, the State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mark Dewua, explained that “The introduction of free education in technical colleges is a landmark initiative that promises to equip our young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today’s competitive world.
“This policy not only opens doors for countless students in Benue state and beyond but also strengthens our nation’s capacity for innovation and industrial growth and ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder academic pursuit and personal development. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive education and youth empowerment.
“Furthermore, we acknowledge the significant progress on the Makurdi – Otukpo – Enugu road project, a vital infrastructure development that will enhance connectivity, boost trade, and improve the quality of life for citizens in Benue state and the entire region. Such infrastructure investments are key to unlocking the economic potential of our communities and fostering national integration.
“As the NOA in Benue state, we pledge to continue working closely with the Federal Ministry of Information and other stakeholders to promote awareness, understanding, and support for these impactful programs”, he pledged.
Dr Sam Abah, presented a paper highlighting some of the achievements of President Tinubu at the programme that was held at the Conference hall of the Federal Ministry of Information complex, Makurdi.
