A participant on The Traitors has been removed from the BBC programme after only two days in the game.
The fourth series of the popular gameshow commenced on New Year’s Day, with host Claudia Winkleman unveiling her chosen Traitors for this season.
Stephen, 32, Hugo, 51, and Rachel, 42, were selected as this year’s antagonists, along with a Secret Traitor whose identity remains concealed from both the trio and the viewers.
By the conclusion of the second episode, the trio were deliberating over whether to eliminate either Ben, Reece or Maz.
Just moments into Saturday’s (January 3rd) episode, it was disclosed that they had chosen retiree Ben as their target, reports Wales Online.
Yesterday marked the first elimination as the Traitors voted out nursery school teacher, Netty. Later in the day, the Faithfuls expelled one of their own, Judy.
Netty’s departure particularly put Ross in the hot seat as it was revealed on the first day that the pair know each other outside of the show.
Their friendship had raised suspicions among the other contestants, with some concerned that they might collude against their fellow players.
The contestants hinted that Ross might be the Traitor who ousted Netty to deflect suspicion from himself. In Saturday’s episode, the London lad found himself once again battling to establish his innocence.
It came to light that Ben had told his fellow cast members James, Stephen, Fiona, Ellie and Jessie that if he were to be ‘murdered’, they should point the finger at Ross.
Naturally, this has cast a shadow of doubt over Ross. However, Jessie was quick to point out that since Ross wasn’t present during this discussion, he could be being set up by a Traitor who was part of the conversation.
Stephen admitted his error in his private interviews, confessing: “This is my first big mistake in the game.”
Viewers at home have speculated that the Secret Traitor must have also been present in the room and suggested Ben’s name to implicate Ross.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer posted: “Omg the secret traitor must have been in the room with Ben to put him up to be killed and that’s how his name ended up on the list and the secret traitor wanted it blamed on Ross? ! #TheTraitors #TheTraitorsUK.”
Another concurred: “The secret traitor must have also been in that room when Ben said that so they could shortlist him knowing Stephen would kill him off? ! #TheTraitors.”
Ben’s ‘murder’ has certainly left an impact on the castle.
