BBC co-commentator Steve Cram believes Winter Olympic officials should address the Canada curling team regarding their inappropriate language. The Canadians overcame Team GB 9-5 in the latest round of round-robin fixtures.
Brad Jacobs’ team have attracted negative attention for the wrong reasons throughout the competition in Milan and Cortina. The BBC was forced to apologise after Canada third Marc Kennedy became involved in an expletive-laden dispute with Swedish player Oskar Eriksson this week.
Kennedy also faced accusations of double-touching his stone during his nation’s win over Sweden, prompting World Curling to release a statement clarifying the regulations. The BBC commentary team once again found themselves criticising the Canadians’ choice of words.

As both sides took a break during Tuesday’s match, the Canadians could be heard swearing amongst themselves whilst television cameras remained nearby, drawing disapproval and exasperation from Cram and co-commentator Logan Gray.
Following one Canadian team member being heard saying “every f***ing time” after they secured a point, Cram said: “Excuse me” with an audible sigh of irritation.

Cram, who also has extensive experience commentating on athletics, made a plea to Winter Olympics officials, adding: “They have to have a word with these Canadians,” to which Gray responded: “Potty mouths.”
At that moment, Canada had just established a 3-1 advantage following the third end. It was a crucial throw, as Mouat’s rink had two scoring stones positioned, but Jacobs’ side capitalised on having the hammer by drawing in a point.
Whilst not on television and beyond the range of microphones, Mouat’s team will be the ones expressing frustration. The Scot led Team GB to the silver medal in the last games.
However, they needed a victory over the Canadians to ensure they were in a strong position heading into their final match against the USA. Before the clash, they were defeated 8-6 by Norway.
Now Team GB must overcome the USA tomorrow afternoon and hope other results do not go against them. Mouat’s side have already secured five wins in Milan and Cortina, but they will likely need another one to break into the semi-final places.
