
BBC Breakfast hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty shared some “difficult” breaking news during the latest episode of the show.
During Friday’s (February 27) edition of the hit morning programme, Charlie and Naga updated viewers on the latest news from across the UK and around the world.
They were joined in the studio by Sarah Keith-Lucas, who delivered regular weather forecasts, while Mike Bushell handled the sports segment.
Just moments into the show, the hosts announced breaking news from overnight, after the Green Party won the Gorton and Denton by-election – their first ever Westminster by-election win.
Hannah Spencer has become the new MP, with Reform in second place and Labour pushed into third.
“The Green Party has overturned a significant Labour majority to win the Gorton and Denton by-election in Greater Manchester,” Naga began, with Charlie adding: “The contest had been seen as a key test for Keir Starmer.”
Political correspondent Jack Fenwick said that the result was a “politically difficult” moment for the Prime Minister.
