A BBC Breakfast host was “cut off” live on air for a “breaking news” announcement on Monday (January 19). Today’s edition of the hit morning programme was presented by Sally Nugent and Jon Kay, who updated viewers on the latest news from across the UK and around the world.
They were joined in the studio by Carol Kirkwood, who delivered regular weather updates, while Emma Vardy and Ben Croucher shared business and sporting updates, respectively.
Throughout the show, Sally and Jon shared political updates as the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, prepared to address the nation on Monday. This comes after US President Donald Trump said he would impose tariffs on the UK and other countries that oppose his plan to buy Greenland.
They spoke to political correspondent Henry Zeffman about the situation towards the end of the programme. But as Henry shared news from outside Downing Street, he was soon cut off as the show went live with footage of Keir Starmer’s speech inside Number 10.
