Hedera expands fast with AI Studio, Africa Hackathon, and even NFT whisky casks.
The Australian dollar-based stablecoin AUDD has officially launched natively on the Hedera network. This is the first commercial launch of Hedera Stablecoin Studio, an open-source toolkit specifically designed to issue stablecoins with complete features, from proof-of-reserve to KYC/AML integration. Yes, finally this is no longer just a whitepaper promise.
AUDC Pty Ltd, as the issuer, brings AUDD to Hedera via the Hedera Token Service (HTS). From a technical perspective, the advantages are quite tempting: transaction fees are only around $0.001 and instant confirmation.
Just imagine, if you want to send money abroad in seconds without having to worry about exchange rates or bank admin fees that often make you scratch your head — this could be the answer. Moreover, the Hedera network is known for its negative carbon footprint and high performance.
Furthermore, AUDD is not a newcomer to the blockchain world. Previously, this stablecoin was already present on several major networks such as Ethereum, Solana, Stellar, XRPL, and XDC. But its native presence on Hedera is a major turning point — as it’s here that AUDD can harness the power of network execution without bridges or overhead.
Looking at the broader picture, AUDD isn’t just about transactions. Its launch also proves that Hedera’s Stablecoin Studio can actually be used by real institutions, not just a demo for developers. While other stablecoins are still grappling with regulation or concentrating solely on the DeFi ecosystem, AUDD is rapidly gaining traction.
The Hedera ecosystem hasn’t stopped there, and it’s been moving fast in recent months. In mid-May, as we’ve highlighted, Hedera introduced AI Studio, an open-source, modular platform that allows for the creation of transparent, auditable AI applications directly on its network.
So, for example, if you’re building a chatbot based on public data, you can now be sure that all processes are clearly recorded and can’t be manipulated behind the scenes.
On the other hand, CNF also previously reported that towards the end of May, Hedera launched the Africa Hackathon 2025 — a developer competition in partnership with the Hashgraph Association and the Exponential Science Foundation.
The prize pool? Over $1 million, which is no small amount for developers looking to showcase their skills in the Web3 ecosystem. This signals Hedera’s intention to expand further beyond Western and Asian markets.
And perhaps the most unusual — but interesting — comes from Cask Capital. In early April, they started selling partial ownership of rare Scottish whisky casks as NFTs on the Hedera network. Anyone can now own a digital stake in a cask of expensive whisky for just £100. So yes, everything from AI to spirits is connected to the blockchain.
The launch of AUDD directly indicates a new direction for Hedera. This network is not just about scalability or speed, but also about the readiness of the infrastructure for use in real-world finance. AUDD could be the beginning of many other stablecoins to follow.
Meanwhile, Hedera’s native token, HBAR, is trading around $0.1453 at the time of writing. Despite being down around 9% in the past week, the launch of AUDD and other ambitious projects shows that Hedera is not sitting idle amidst today’s blockchain competition.
