AUBURN-OPELIKA — Auburn-Opelika Tourism has announced the hiring of Mari Lott as communications specialist, a role she assumed in January 2026 following her graduation from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Mari’s internship with Auburn-Opelika Tourism in 2025 laid the foundation for her full-time role through hands-on experience in public relations, marketing and destination storytelling.
Auburn-Opelika Tourism’s mission is to serve both visitors and residents by enhancing the quality of place, strengthening community pride and sharing the story of the region. Mari’s role supports that mission through thoughtful communication, accurate information sharing and creative storytelling that reflects the character of Auburn-Opelika.

As a communications specialist, Mari supports Auburn-Opelika Tourism’s marketing and communications initiatives through public relations, content creation and daily management of digital platforms.
Mari works closely with the director of communications and marketing on day-to-day projects and campaigns that help share Auburn-Opelika’s story with visitors and the local community.
