Tripura, Jan 8: In a major anti-drug operation, Assam Rifles under #SpearCorps, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura State Rifles, Police, and Forest Department, successfully destroyed a sprawling ganja plantation in multiple locations across Dhanpur, Induria, Kacchakhala, and Dhanmura in Tripura.
The operation led to the eradication of approximately 6 lakh ganja plants spread over 200 acres of land. The estimated market value of the destroyed narcotics is around Rs 36 crore, striking a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
The coordinated crackdown involved meticulous planning and intelligence inputs, with forces conducting simultaneous raids across all identified sites. Local authorities and security forces ensured the safe removal and destruction of the plants while preserving the surrounding environment.
The Assam Rifles emphasized that the operation reflects their commitment to maintaining law and order, curbing illegal drug cultivation, and protecting youth from the threat of narcotics. Officials noted that joint operations with multiple agencies enhance operational efficiency and have proven effective in dismantling criminal networks.
