Residents have the chance to unlock the mysteries of family heirlooms.
Herefordshire Museums and Galleries are holding an ‘Ask the Expert’ day on Thursday, August 21.
The event, which takes place at the History Store on Friars Street, Hereford, allows people to drop in any time between 11am and 3pm with their mystery objects.
People will be able to meet museum specialists and local experts, who can identify objects and give historical insights.
Damian Etheraads, head of culture, museums, libraries, and archives at Herefordshire Council, said: “Whether it’s a curious coin, an old tool, a natural specimen, or a unique collectable, our team of researchers will share their knowledge and give guidance on how to uncover the hidden stories behind your item.
“So, if you’ve always wondered about a historical object you have in your home, do bring it along and find out about it from our experts.”
‘Ask the Expert’ is one of many public events on offer from Herefordshire Museums and Galleries.
Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
They are hoping it will be a “hands-on opportunity to explore history and heritage through personal possessions.”
They also have a range of activities available at the History Store, the Old House in Hereford, and through their ‘Museum on the Move’ initiative.
To keep up with the latest news and events, follow Herefordshire Museums and Galleries on Facebook and Instagram or pick up a copy of their ‘What’s On’ brochure, available at various locations around Hereford.
