Arsenal have announced the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners completed the signing of the Sweden international on Saturday as his £63.7million move from Sporting Lisbon was finally confirmed.
Gyokeres’ future has been a saga lasting the entire summer up until now. The 27-year-old went on strike at the Portuguese champions to force through his dream move to Arsenal.
An agreement was reached on a £55m fixed fee plus £8.7m in add-ons almost two weeks ago but talks continued between the two clubs regarding the specifics of those bonuses.
But a breakthrough was made and Gyokeres flew into London for his medical on Saturday. His move has now been sealed and he will don the iconic No. 14 shirt – made famous by Thierry Henry.
The former Coventry City striker spent two successful seasons in Portugal – scoring 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting, along with 28 assists.
